Leif Madsen paints realistic pictures, presenting the magnificent beauty of
nature in bright colours. With an impressive feeling for detail, and for the
evocation of light in the picture, he conjures up small scenes from nature:
a beech wood with a carpet of anemones, a cornfield or luxuriant flowers, trees
and bushes of many kinds. These pictures are true to nature, and radiate calm
and presence; but at the same time, thanks to their insistent naturalism, a
mood of absence is struck, perhaps as a reminder of the precarious fate of nature
in the modern world.
